2014/2015, in dieser Saison hatte sie zwei große Rollendebüts, im Staatstheater Darmstadt in der Neuproduktion von Samson & Dalila als Dalila unter der Leitung von Elias Grandy, Regie Inga Levant und in Istanbul in der Semi-Konzertanten-Aufführung von Verdis Aida als Amneris unter der Leitung von Sascha Goetzel, Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra und Coro dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Regie Yekta Kara. Festival MúsicaMallorca, Eröffnungsgala Viva L’Opera, unter der Leitung von Domonkos Héja.

2013/14, Stella Grigorian opens the Season as Adalgisa in a new production of Bellini’s Norma at Opéra de Toulon. She returns as Charlotteto the Irkutsk Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in a concert performance it of Massenet's Werther. At the Estonian National Opera in Tallinn she successfully sang Maddalena in Rigoletto and was immediately re-invited for a concert performance of Gounod's Roméo et Juliette. At the Opéra Comique de Paris she appears in a concert of the Orchestra of the Gulbenkian Foundation, under the direction of Alain Altinoglu. She returns to the New Israeli Opera Tel Aviv in the role of Orlofsky in Strauss' Fledermaus.

2012/13, Stella Grigorian opened the season in the highly acclaimed Damiano Michieletto production of Puccinis Il Trittico at Theater an der Wien. In February 2013 she appears in the title role of Bizet’s Carmen (Director: David McVicar) at the Royal Danish Opera Copenhagen, followed by Wagner’s Magdalene in Meistersinger von Nürnberg with Sebastian Weigle conducting at the Spring Festival 2013 in Tokyo. Later on she performs Meg Page and Emilia in Verdi’s Falstaff and Otello under the baton of Zubin Mehta in Tel Aviv. In summer 2013 Stella Grigorian is invited to sing several piano recitals with Natalie Dessay in France and at Verbier Festival, followed by orchestra concerts also with Natalie Dessay and Stephane Degout. In September 2013 she appears at Verdi festival Brno in a Verdi Opera Gala and in Verdi’s Messa da Requiem. Stella Grigorian opens the season 2013/14 as Adalgisa in a new production of Bellini’s Norma at Opéra de Toulon.

2011/12, The season took Stella Grigorian to Vienna where she was engaged in two productions at the Theater an der Wien: she sang in the world premiere of Lera Auerbach´s Gogol under the baton of Vladimir Fedosejew and she sang the part of Gertrude in a new production of Hamlet (Director: Olivier Py), conducted by Marc Minkowski.

2010/11, In the season the most outstanding engagements of the mezzo-soprano were the Orlowsky in a new production of Die Fledermaus at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin and Brangäne in the Fura dels Baus production of Tristan und Isolde at the Opéra National de Lyon conducted by Kirill Petrenko. Her most important guest performances took her to Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona (Meistersinger von Nürnberg/Claus Guth), Lisbon (Medea/Lawrence Foster), Hamburgische Staatsoper (Carmen), Salzburg Festival (Die tote Stadt), Opera Zürich (Die Walküre/Franz Welser-Möst), Aalto Theatre in Essen (Italiana in Algeri), Theater an der Wien (Katya Kabanova/Kirill Petrenko and Médée/Fabio Luisi), New Israeli Opera (Faust/Omer Meir Wellber), New National Theatre Tokyo (Carmen), Oper Graz (Werther), St. Petersburg Philharmonic (Mozart’s Requiem) and to the Vienna Konzerthaus for Dukas' Ariane et Barbe-Bleue, Hindemith’s Mathis der Maler and Mahler 8 conducted by Bertrand de Billy. At Bregenz festival she appeared in Mahler 2 with Kirill Petrenko conducting. Further concerts took her to Florence with Zubin Mehta and to Basel with Fabio Luisi. She recorded a CD I am suddenly Spanish with songs by Obradors, Glinka, Tschaikowsky, Shostakowitsch, Bizet, Ravel, Delibes, Massenet, Rossini and Donizetti, accompanied by Helmut Deutsch.

2006, she debuted at Frankfurt Opera as Nerone in Handel‘s Agrippina and stayed strongly related to that opera house, where she sang Sesto in La clemenza di Tito (Director: Christoph Loy), Cenerentola, Polina in Pique Dame, Medea in Cavalli’s Giasone, Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims, Fenena in Nabucco, Siebel in Faust, and Sélysette in Ariane et Barbe-Bleue.

1998, her first professional engagement took her straight to the Vienna State Opera where she remained a member of the company until June 2006. Quickly she grew into leading roles like Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Isabella in Italiana in Algeri (with Marco Armiliato), Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Despina in Così fan tutte, Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro (with Riccardo Muti and Seiji Ozawa), Pierotto in Linda di Chamounix, Meg Page in Falstaff (with Fabio Luisi), Antigone in Enescu's Oedipe, and Stéphano in Roméo et Juliette.

 

Born in Tiflis/Georgia. Vocal studies at the MusicAcademy in Tiflis (graduating with honours) and at the Vienna Conservatory; also language studies (Master’s degree in French and Spanish).
