Stella sings at the Opening of the New Florence Opera House

testata

Culture had found a new home. Florence now has a house for art where the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino will continue to hold the high artistic standards that has always distinguished it. Stella Grigorian was one of the singers at the opening celebration.

The ten days of celebration started on December 21, 2011, when Zubin Mehta conducted the overture Leonore n. 3 in C major opus 72 by Ludwig van Beethoven. This was followed by the world premiere of Gegenliebe (Reciprocated love) for orchestra by Sylvano Bussotti, which was specially commissioned by the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

Finally Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in D minor, opus 125, for soloists, chorus and orchestra. The singers were: Stella Grigorian, Anja Kampe, Michael Schade, and Juha Uusitalo. They sang together with the Orchestra and the Chorus of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino the Hymn to joy in this most world-famous symphony, which inspired the hymn of the European Union.
